Continental Baggage Fees
Flying is not just a passion but also a necessity. More than 80% population of the developed countries travels and takes frequent trips around the world. Airlines make it a point to make sure their frequent flyers and their passengers are aware of the baggage rulings and regulations. Since the percentage of people flying has increased 3.72% per annum, special rulings terms and conditions apply to airlines that have to accommodate the luggage. Continental Airlines have therefore outlined their fee structure.
First of all the carry-on limits are mentioned. Each individual is allowed at least one carry-on bag and one personal item or otherwise known as hand luggage. The preferred dimensions of the bag to be carried on are 45” inches/115 cm in Length, Height and Width. The preferred weight for the carried on bag is 40lb or 18kg. Passengers can bring along personal items that will be counted as hang luggage. Things that are allowed are briefcases, purses, laptops, CD Players and any similarly sized item. Any tools that can help the person if they are impaired or disabled can also be brought along such as canes, crutches, wheelchairs, braces, and walking sticks. Since the passenger is in need of them they are necessary and permitted.

Passengers of economy class traveling within US, or to and from US, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and/or Canada have the fee structure as thus, the first checked bag will be charged at $25 at the airport and $23 if paid online. The second checked baggage will be charged at $35 at the airport and $32 if paid online. Additionally for passengers traveling between US, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Canada and Europe have different fee structures. They will not be charged for their first checked baggage i.e. it is free and will be charged $50 at the airport and $45 if pre-paid online.

There are also restrictions to the size and weight of the baggage allowed. This is because the airline has a set amount of space they have to keep as backup. This backup allows the plane to stay within the maximum weight regulations so that it is balanced when in the air and no problems are caused when flying. These restrictions are of the maximum dimensions allowed to be 62” inches in Length, Width and Height and in weight to be at the maximum of 50 lb or 23 kg.
These rules and regulations have been viewed with many things in mind. These are then reviewed and subject to change when there are sufficient measures. It’s best to be aware of these rules to avoid any mishaps that me be troublesome for the passengers when flying.
